To start the process of paying for UCF, students must fill out and submit the FAFSA. Students eligible to receive financial aid will receive it in the form of grants, scholarships, federal loans, and federal work-study. Financial aid packages are awarded by using a combination of these different awards.
Grants that are available to help meet student financial need include federal, state and university grants. Federal grants include the Pell Grant, the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, and the TEACH Grant. State grants include Florida Student Assistance Grant and First Generation Matching Grant Program. Institutional grants include the UCF Grant, the UCF Scholars Award, and the Charge On! 15 Grant.
Scholarships are available through a variety of sources. Students will need to fill out a separate one-time application during their senior year in high school and can apply for multiple from various departments and organizations. You are encouraged to check out the scholarship database for a variety of potential scholarship opportunities along with the Scholarship FAQ Page and Scholarship Resource Page to get answers to questions you may have. There are also scholarships available for transfer students.
Students may also qualify for federal student and/or parent loans. For students who may need additional funds there are other optional private loans available. Students are encouraged to check out the Loan FAQ page for more information and answers to questions.
Some students will receive the ability to participate in the federal work study (FWS) program as part of their financial aid package. Both students who are eligible and those who are not and wish to find a job to help subsidize the cost of their education can access Handshake as a helpful tool.
Other financial benefits and programs that are available are need-based non-resident waivers, undergraduate veteran benefits, and financial aid information for international students. There may also be help for students who need funds for textbooks before financial aid awards come in. These include the Short-Term Advance for Books or the Textbook Purchase Program.
Students should check out the Financial Aid Videos, the student budget calculator sheet and the undergraduate viewbook to learn about additional opportunities and access helpful hints during their financial aid application process.
