Northern Arizona University provides several ways to help students subsidize the cost of their education. When students fill out the FAFSA form along with submitting an application for admission, they are considered for need-based aid from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. NAU prides itself on the NAU Pledge that states that students will receive the same tuition price for all four years of their undergraduate education which helps students with planning and budgeting for college. Another way that students can save is through the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Program. NAU is part of the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) Program where out of state students who live within one of the WUE states can receive an approximate 40% discount on tuition
Financial aid packages generally include any merit award scholarship awards along with federal work-study awards, federal loans, federal, state, and institutional grants including the NAU University Grant, the Earn to Learn Grant, the TEACH grant, and the Arizona Financial Aid Trust Grant. Need-based scholarships are also available for students and families including Private Donor Scholarships, NAU Departmental Scholarships (NAU Foundation Scholarships application and award types can be found here), Tribal Scholarships for Native American Students, and Transfer Student Tuition Scholarships. Additionally, NAU offers additional scholarships in the form of AmeriCorps participant awards, Diverse Population Awards including funds for students who have been through foster care such as the Blavin Scholars Program, those who identify as DACA students, those who are first generation college students, students identifying as Havasupai tribal members, and international student scholarships.
Financial aid for students pursuing a personalized learning program and students who need financial aid for studying abroad is also available. Employees of NAU and their qualifying dependents can receive financial assistance in the form of the Employee Tuition Reduction Program.
Some financial resources that are available to prospective NAU students are the net price calculator, the scholarship estimator tool, financial aid-related frequently asked questions, a handy financial aid glossary, and a budgeting for college checklist.
The Alliance Bank Economic Policy Institute houses a financial literacy center for NAU students who are members of a nationally recognized Indian tribe. There are several money management programs available as well as a Facebook page.
