Carnegie Mellon University provides financial aid packages using a need-blind admissions policy. Financial aid is based on need and available at the time of admissions. Financial aid consideration is provided each year with the submission of all necessary financial aid documents including the FAFSA, CSS Profile, and tax documents. Aid is available to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students. Veterans education benefits and information can be seen here. Students who wish to take courses in the summer are able to apply for summer financial aid. For students wishing to Study Abroad, The Office of International Education provides information about funding this endeavor.
Carnegie Mellon's Financial Aid Assistance Guide is a comprehensive 11-page PDF guide for students and families to navigate the financial aid application process.
The types of financial aid available are grants, need-based scholarships, and work-study opportunities. Students can apply for non-work-study jobs and internships on or off-campus using the Handshake page or app. Carnegie Mellon University welcomes outside scholarships to help subsidize your financial aid package. The Financial Aid Office provides a section for Frequently Asked Questions, a Financial Aid Estimator, and a Net Price Calculator to help assess affordability and provide guidance for students and families.
Carnegie Mellon's Student Financial Services Office offers financial literacy resources through its Division of Enrollment Services (also known as The HUB).
